Its amazing how quickly time can pass. It was only two and a half years ago when I used to walk through the quad on the way to English and occasionally bump into Dylan who would stop me and say “Hey Ash, how is it going Ash? Hows life ash? Where you going Ash?” I couldn’t never quite work out why he called me Ash when everyone else called me Ashton. Or why he always asked me a stream of questions but never wait for the answers. But that was Dylan. We didn’t have a huge amount to do with each other but we never had cross words to say to one another and we often joked around with each other. I don’t want to claim that Dylan and I were best mates or anything. We didn’t really have much to do with one another. But from what I knew of Dylan he was a funny, down to earth and somewhat charming young man. My only regret is perhaps never knowing him better. But that is one of the many life lessons we are taught.
Dylan my prayers and thoughts are with you. May you rest in peace. And may you always know the impact you had on peoples lives, even those people who you just said “hows English going Ash” to.
To Dylans family and friends may you find strength at this time. And know that everyone, whether you know them or not, is thinking of you.
Peace,
